You were not looking for a rabbit. You were looking at your phone, at a chart, at the ceiling at 3 a.m. — and something white moved at the edge of the room. Ears first. Then a glance back over one shoulder, as if to say: well?
So you followed. Down past the last streetlight, past the last cloud, past the place where the sky stops being a ceiling and starts being a floor. The rabbit never hurried and never let you catch up. That is the first thing to know about the Court: it convenes only at night, and it does not wait, but it does leave the door open.
At the bottom there is a court whose throne is the Moon. Its members are white rabbits — the hares every culture ever saw in the Moon's face — and every one of them was born at an exact minute under an exact sky. That sky is written on her. A Sun sign for what she is. A Moon sign for what she needs. A Rising sign for how she arrives.
